Google Plus has another reason to feel good about. It is about taking backup of your data which includes your precious photos, contacts, streams, posts and even your Google profile. There are two different ways to backup all your data or selected data quite easily. You can either backup your data from within Google Plus or you can use Google takeout to backupyour data.
Steps to Take Backup of your Google Plus Data using Google Takeout
- Sign in to your Google+ account.
- From the top Google+ bar, go to Account Settings.
- Click Data Liberation on the left hand side
- On the right hand side, you will see the data liberation screen. You will find different links (see above image) to backup different types of data individually like Picasa photos, stream data, circles data etc. You can also click Download your data button to backup all in just one go
- Click on any one. For example, lets say – I clicked on Picasa photo albums.
- Next screen will show the number of files that will be backed up along with the estimated size.
- Click Create Archive. It will backup the chosen service or data and will create a zip archive of the backup which you can download to your local computer by clicking on download button.
- In the 4th step above, if you click on “Download your data” button, it will take you to the next screen listing all types of data that will be backed up.
- Click “Create Archive” button.
- It will start backing up all types of data and will show the number of files and the file size for each one of these.
- Green Bar will indicate completion of backup process and you can proceed to download the archive/backup zip file.
- The above service makes use of Google Takeout which is a service by Data liberation front to backup data in Google products. You can invoke Google takeout directly fromgoogle.com/takeout as well. Remaining process will remain same as above.
