Chat and Video Calling feature of Facebook

Facebook lets you see which of your Friends are online at the same time you are so you can have a conversation with them in real time. Chat, or instant messaging, is a popular way to communicate online

In Fall 2011, Facebook started rolling out big changes to its interface. These changes have appeared slowly, so your account may not include all of them yet. For some accounts, the chat list is now located in a chat pane on the right edge of your window

Pop Out Chat

You can open a larger pop out window of Facebook's Chat for a more convenient view.
Click on the Chat bar, then click Options and select Pop Out Chat.
The Pop Out Chat window will appear. You can move and re-size the window as desired.

Chatting with Multiple Friends

Facebook's Chat does not allow you to talk with more than one person in the same Chat window, unless you have created a Facebook Group. When you create a group and add your Friends, you can open a Chat window for the group and whoever is currently online in the group can respond to your messages.
For more information, see Facebook's Groups Help Info.
You can however, have more than one Chat window open at a time allowing you to have multiple conversationsat once.
